The Official MSU Podcast??
As I was walking back from a call this afternoon, and idea dawned on me. Instead of having this already dusty blog as an “unofficial podcast” of MSU, we could form an orginization with the SGA and make it “official”.
I realize there would be alot of work associated with it, which is why I probably wouldn’t do it. But it could be plausible.
Whatever the case, this podcast idea is already stale. We need to put some life into it. Any ideas??
The Unofficial voice of MSU
So I finally gave this phantom podcast a home to one day reside. the address is http://msupodcast.wordpress.com/.
It’s still a work in progress, but now that there is a site for it, that means we are only that much closer to recording an episode.
Also, i am quite proud of the custom header. Not that it was that difficult with the Custom header wizard built into wordpress. But it looks very professional.
We have an idea, How about a name?
I think I could deffinately be down for some kind of MSU / College Kids Tech podcast. I only have 1 problem with that however.
I think the problem with my blogs / podcast were that I always wrote them to a low-tech crowd. The crowd that doesn’t read blogs / listen to podcasts. If I were to do a podcast to an MSU audience it would almost certainly have to be very user friendly. Which I am fine with, but I have to be careful nlot to over-do it, as I have done in the past.
So. Now that we have an idea, what about a name? If this is something we can really do (which we really can, its all about if we want to do it) we need some kind of name. Obviously I won’t be hosting it on this blog, I will have to make a new one. Which only takes 5 seconds anyways.
Obviously it has to say that we are an MSU podcast, but it has to say that we are not an official voice of the university. Feel free to bounce around some ideas in the comments.

Since Alex requested them, here is how i go about podcasting now

Recording the Intro/Outro
- First i recoreded the intro in Aucacity. This consists of recording the vocals (Bern).
- Importing the song (converted to MP3 or WAV in iTunes).
- Line up the vocals and song.
- Trim song accordingly.
- Add fade out effect.
- Export to MP3.
- The same process can be applied to your outro however you wish.
Recording your episode
- Get yourself organized however you want (Outline, Show notes)
- Begin recording, and get the body of the episode down in Audacity
- Once you are done, import your Intro.mp3 and/or Outro.mp3s
- Line up the episode with your intro and outro so that they flow together nicely
- Export to MP3
Uploading your podcast
- After you have created an OurMedia account, upload the file, and add all the nessecary details (Lisence, Author, Copyright holder).
- This part will take a while, depending on how long your episode is.
- Once that is done, go back into your file history, and look for the file you just uploaded. it will give you a direct URL link to the file, so link that in your podcast, and your good to go!
